This year I thought it would be fun to plant a garden. So, one day we were at the hardware store and Lucas and I picked out a bunch of seeds (cucumbers, radishes, carrots, snake gourds (Luke's pick), watermelon, peas, pumpkins, sunflowers, corn and lupine). Once we had the seeds we needed the perfect spot to grow them and found it right off the patio.
Travis was kind enough to rototiller it once I cleared away all the river rock and till in some compost.
Lucas and I made some plant signs so we'd know what went where.
Mom helped me lay everything out and I realized we were a bit ambitious with our seed selections so we weeded out the pumpkins and watermelon and planted the sunflowers over by the fence. I also added a couple of tomato plants and a lemon cucumber plant I bought at the local farmers' market.
Lucas helped me plant the seeds and got plenty dirty in the process :)

And, miracle of miracles, our plants are starting to grow!
I can't wait to taste our yummy veggies!
