Today is Lucas' first day of kindergarten. He is excited and nervous and anxious to start this next phase in his life.
For the last five years he has been here with me. It's hard to believe that my sweet little boy is old enough to go to big kid school. He is definitely not a baby anymore and yet he will always be my baby and I'm not going to lie, it was a bit hard on Mom's heart to watch him walk through those doors this afternoon.
Yesterday we had an orientation and I got to go with him. He eagerly walked into the school excited to see his classroom for the first time.
He set right to work writing his name on his picture.
Then, he drew this picture of himself on the first day of school.
Before we left I snapped a picture of him and his teacher, Mrs. B. She seems great and I think he is going to really have a great time in her class.
Today we took some pictures in front of the house for his official first day of school. As usual, he was very cooperative : ).

I hope he makes new friends.
I hope he knows how much I love him.
I hope he continues to enjoy learning.
I hope his teacher appreciates what a wonderful imagination he has.
I hope he has a great year!
