A week after school was out we were lucky enough to fly to Michigan to spend a week with Brian and Diana. The kids couldn't wait to go and spent the weeks leading up to the trip telling everyone they were going to Uncle Brian's house. Finally the big day arrived and Mom, Lucas, Lexie and I set off for Michigan.
Ready for take off! I loaded the kids backpacks with lots of fun activities for the plane. I may have overloaded them though because when I put Lexie's on her she fell right over! Oops!
After a long day of travel we arrived in Michigan, happy to be on the ground and very happy to see Uncle Brian! We loaded up the car and drove to Brian and Diana's house where the kids were excited to see Aunt Diana and explore the new house. They especially loved the built in laundry shoot once Aunt Diana showed them how to drop things down to the basement!
Hanging out together.Lexie Lou has a special love for Uncle Brian and was never far from his side!
The kids loved the slinky and Brian and Diana have the perfect stairs for it!
Unfortunately the slinky was often a tangled mess!
After a long day of travel it was nice to have some time to chill.
Grandma brought along some game books for the kids. Lucas loves these books and especially likes the mazes.
After some quiet time in the morning we took the kids to a really cool air museum. There were old airplanes displayed, movies, air simulators and rides. The kids especially loved the rides!
This one was a Ferris wheel type ride but unfortunately it wasn't working. There were still lots of other fun rides to try and the kids had a great time on them. They even got Uncle Brian to ride with them and he doesn't like rides (we both rode one that made us queasy!).
Lexie Lou especially liked the airplane ride.
The next day we woke up to beautiful weather so we drove out to visit Diana at work. The college is right on a beautiful lake and the kids had fun throwing rocks in the water.
After we'd been there a few minutes a dead fish floated by and the kids found that fascinating : )
It was a beautiful spot and nice to spend a little time by the lake. Next we stopped by Brian's office and then drove back into town for some lunch.
After lunch we went into a fun kid's museum. The kids enjoyed spending time in the museum and trying the different activities set up. Once we left Lexie needed a ride from Uncle Brian : )
Resting near her favorite person : )
More slinky fun.
Brian and Diana live right near an elementary school and the kids loved walking up there to play in the park.
Lexie selling Uncle Brian some ice cream.
Lucas had a great time on the play structure.
Trying out the zip line with a little help.
Lexie tried the monkey bars with a little help from Uncle Brian.
Slide fun.
The kids loved to race each other down the slides.

Lucas showed his great balancing skills.
Finally it was time to head back to the house for some dinner.
The next day we decided to drive out to Lake Michigan.
It was a beautiful, hot day and we had a great time playing in the water and sand.
The kids especially liked digging holes in the sand.

Lexie used her water bottle to fill her hole up with water.
Uncle Brian was there to help both kiddos and do a little refereeing as well : )
Lucas wanted to dig a giant hole.
Lexie mostly liked filling up her water bottle and dumping it in the sand.
Proud of his work!
After a long day of sand and sun we packed up and drove into a nearby town for some ice cream.

The kids had a great time throwing rocks off the bleachers (we were the only ones sitting in them) and even made a couple of new friends.
