Just after Thanksgiving Travis and I flew to Maui for our fist ever vacation without the kids. I was pretty worried about leaving my babies for a week but we left them in the capable hands of Dad and Janie so that made me feel better. After a rough start, with a hotel issue that caused a move to the Hyatt, we had a nice time.
One of the things I really wanted to try was zip lining so one morning Travis and I tried it out.
All strapped up and ready to ride! The zip line system is a marvel of engineering! We drove up to the top of a mountain and then rode five different zip lines back down. I was a little nervous at first but it was so fun!
The views were beautiful.
Our guides were great and let us stop and explore. Here we are standing in front of a nature preserve - really beautiful.
Coming down the zip line.
Our guides introduced us to strawberry guavas.
They were yummy! A bit tart with a few hard seeds in the middle. They were really addicting.
They also showed us this plant which smelled like root beer.
Ready for the last ride.
This was the view from our balcony - beautiful! Our hotel was wonderful and I spent many hours by the pool!
One night we ate at Duke's and it was delicious. It was my favorite meal by far!
Travis enjoyed some yummy Tuna.
We shared a hula cake. It was a delicious macadamia nut ice cream pie with a cookie crust - yum!
Travis wanted to hike around one day and take pictures so I tagged along. The scenery was amazing.
While he took pictures of the landscape I had to snap a couple of myself just to show I'd been there : )
We also took a snorkel trip which was a lot of fun.
We took a boat ride out to the Molokini Crater. Along the way we saw whales which was cool!
Ready to snorkel!
