Last week Travis had a work conference to attend in Chicago so the kids and I tagged along.
We got up bright and early to catch our flight and Lexie was a good helper rolling her suitcase alongside Daddy.
The kids were great travellers!
After we settled into our hotel it was time to find some dinner and we had passed a Rainforest Cafe in the taxi so we decided to go there.
The kids loved it and thought the animals were really fun.
The next morning Brian came into the city to meet us and we found a local restaurant for breakfast. It was yummy! The kids were so excited to see Uncle Brian and Lexie loved coloring with him at breakfast.
On our walk back to the hotel we passed a Chicago fire station.
The kids stopped to pose on a rock.
Bunny ears are hysterical - even on yourself!
Our little model : )
Brian, the kids and I hopped a train that would take us part of the way to Kalamazoo.
The kids had fun on the train and Lucas really enjoyed playing hangman with Uncle Brian.
Once we got settled in Kalamazoo we went to a nearby park. It was a beautiful day and fun to burn off some energy after being on the train.
Lucas loved swinging on the play structure.
They had fun on the balance beam.
Getting a little help from Uncle Brian.
Lexie loved climbing.
The next morning the kids enjoyed the sunshine!
Last time we were in Kalamazoo we went to the air zoo and the kids couldn't wait to go back!
Flying a helicopter.
Testing out a simulator in 3d.
They had a great time on the rides.
They even talked Uncle Brian into riding a few with them.
Lucas' favorite part was the simulators especially one where he was the pilot of an airplane.
Lexie loved playing the piano with Uncle Brian.
We stopped at another park and Brian and Diana had fun on this teeter totter.
The kids liked it too.
Aunt Diana took Lucas down by the river.
Lexie got a lift from Uncle Brian.
And did the teeter totter with him.
Back to the piano, we really need to get one!
On our final morning, Brian took us to the Kalamazoo Nature Center.
It was a beautiful day and the kids had fun exploring.
Lucas played a game of checkers with Uncle Brian.
We walked through a cool tunnel.
The Kalamazoo River.
Lucas wanted to see how cold it was (pretty cold).
On our walk back.
He didn't think he could make it but luckily he did!
After a quick lunch, Uncle Brian dropped us off at the train station to head back to Chicago. It was great to spend time with Brian and Diana!
That night Travis took us to a fancy steak dinner where Lucas enjoyed prime rib.
The kids couldn't wait to go to this McDonald's (the biggest one they'd ever seen!) so the next morning we had breakfast there.
Lexie needed a ride from Daddy.
After breakfast Lexie and I went to the American Girl Doll store and she picked out a doll that looked just like her. Jessica Julie.
We took Jessica to the cafe for a brownie pop.
Lexie loves her new friend!
The girls got matching shirts and Lexie couldn't wait to get back to the hotel to put them on.
They looked adorable!
While Lexie and I were at the American Girl Doll store, Lucas and Travis went to the Science and Industry Museum.
They rode the bus all the way to the sketchy side of town.
They finally made it!
Lucas loved it!!
They got to tour a submarine which Lucas thought was really cool!
Astronaut Lucas. He could have stayed at the museum for hours and hours. He loved it and wants to go back!
That night we decided to try Chicago pizza. Lexie and I goofing around while we waited for it to cook.
Yum - it was delicious!
On our final day we went to the Shedd Aquarium.
The first thing we did was watch the aquatic show which had dolphins, beluga whales and birds.
Next, we got to touch starfish and coral.
Beluga whales
Penguins
Posing by a tree : )
The kids really wanted to make a penny so they each got one.
By the end of the day they were worn out and Lexie immediately fell asleep in the car on the way to the airport.
Lucas too!
Waiting at the airport.
Goofy girl!
Lexie and Jessica in the plane on the way home.
Lucas was happy he got to sit by Daddy!
It was a beautiful day in Seattle and we had a great view of Mt. Rainier. It was a wonderful trip!!
