Grand Tetons

Last week we took a road trip to the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone.  The kids and Travis went last year and this year I tagged along.
Our first stop along the way was McCall for breakfast.  Lexie's never met a rock she doesn't like to pose on!
Beautiful girl, beautiful flowers : )

The kids had all kinds of activities to keep them busy on the long drive but their iPods got a lot of use!
Lucas loves to play games on his iPod.
Lucas read to us along the way too.  One of his books was a joke book so we got some good laughs from that one.  Travis and I especially loved it when Lucas would ask "do you get it?"  Yep, we did!
Travis planned a pit stop at the Boise zoo.
They had a dinosaur exhibit around the park.
 Lexie and the giraffes.
 We saw some beautiful butterflies.
The kids enjoyed the play area.
 Especially the slide.
Travis poking his head out : )
Wow, a prairie dog right on Lexie's head.
"Lucas come and see!"  They thought this was hilarious!
Lexie on top of the turtle shell.
 And then inside of it.
 Lucas wanted a turn too!
After the zoo we ate dinner at Red Robin and then it was back on the road to Idaho Falls.
In the morning we got in the car and drove into Wyoming to the Jackson Hole.  We made a stop at the Ranger Station where Lexie found some rocks to pose on!

We drove back into Jackson Hole and explored the town a little.  Lexie liked this skull we came across.
 Posing by the bear sculpture.
 Then the Elk.
 Mark Twain.
 George Washington.
In the middle of Jackson Hole there is a park and at each entrance they have these antler gates.  Really cool.

Lexie hanging on one of the antlers - little monkey!
We had lunch at a yummy Mexican restaurant with the best salsa!  Lucas ate so much he couldn't eat his steak burrito!
Lexie saw a coach and wanted a ride so she sweet talked her Daddy into it : )
Lucas and Daddy riding in the coach.
 Lexie and I bouncing along.
Apparantely Lucas needed a zerbert!
Lucas loves to read all of the signs along the way.
 Beautiful Grand Tetons!
In the morning we went back into the park.  There were beautiful flowers everywhere!
We stopped at a little chapel and Travis took lots of pictures.
Lucas and Lexie trying to reach the bell.
Lexie needed a lift from Daddy!
We saw a moose getting a drink of water by the river.
Striking a pose - I think she may want to be a model when she grows up : )
Stopping to look at the rocks.
Lucas and Daddy reading a sign.
Looking at a waterfall through the binoculars.
 Another rock, another pretty pose!
Lexie loves getting rides from Daddy!
We hiked around a beautiful lake and the kids loved to stop along the way and throw rocks in the water.
Throwing it as far as he can!

This was an especially amazing find - a rock with a hole they could crawl through.
Even better it had a "bench" they could sit on.
Daddy showing Lexie a seed from the pine cones.
We managed to find a tree branch to set the camera on for a family photo.
Another family photo with the lake in the background.
We didn't walk all the way around the lake but they made it pretty far and did a great job, hardly any complaints!
One more stop to throw in more rocks before heading back to the Ranger station.
Lucas and Daddy finishing up the activities so the kids could get their badges.
 Taking the Junior Ranger Pledge.
Lucas picked a badge and Lexie picked a pin.
Then they signed the log book and they were officially Junior Rangers.

 The Grand Tetons were beautiful!
The kids loved running around and exploring.

After a full day we said good-bye to the Grand Tetons and headed into Yellowstone.
