Alaskan Vacation

Last week Mom, Brian and I flew to Alaska to spend a week with Scott. We had all been talking about going for a while and we finally decided to just do it. I am so glad we did! We had the best time and can't wait to go again :)
We made it! After a long flight we landed at the airport excited to begin our vacation! We got in around 9p and it was still completely light outside - crazy!
Scott and Brian picked us up (Brian flew in on an earlier flight) and we decided to grab a bite to eat. All that flying really makes you hungry!
As is typical when we all get together we played many games of cards!
So happy to be together!
My wonderful brothers - love you guys!
We decided it would be fun to take in a whale watching cruise so we loaded the car and headed down to Seward. This picture is not far from Anchorage. Alaska is beautiful and we made many stops along the way to get out and admire the scenery.
We arrived in Seward ready to go see some whales. The entire time we were in Alaska the weather was gorgeous! We couldn't have asked for any better weather and Scott said we were very lucky because weather like that is rare.
Cruising along :)

We did get to see a lot of wildlife on our cruise - orca whales, humpback whales, porpoises, sea lions, bald eagles sea otters and mountain goats. The cruise was four hours long and after hour two we all got a little seasick but it was still a lovely day on the ocean!
It was such fun to be with my brothers again! It definitely does not happen enough these days!
After our trip to Seward we went back to Anchorage and then decided to make a trip to Denali. So, we loaded up the car again and headed out. Mt. McKinley is on the way to Denali so we got out and hiked up to the viewpoint. Again, being that the weather was beautiful we got a great view of the mountain.
Brian and Scott getting some great photos.
Mt. McKinley in all it's glory.
After many hours in the car we finally arrived at Denali. We got a bite to eat and then headed into the park. It was beautiful. I found it a little strange that it is light so long in Alaska but it really helped us out! We got to spend hours in the park without worrying about it getting dark.
The park itself is beautiful but we also got to see a ton of wildlife. We saw moose, caribou, a lynx (really cool - just walking across the road), ptarmigan (Alaska's state bird which looks and sounds a lot like a chicken), bald eagles and more moose.
After 30 miles you have to turn around and we stopped to take a rest.
Beautiful!
When we got back to Anchorage I talked everyone into seeing this movie :)
After the movie we had some yummy pizza.
Brian's friend Nathan drove down to pick him up so they could go camping. All of Brian's friends are great and Nathan is no exception. Plus, he brought me some salmon to bring home - hooray for me!

So, sad to be leaving (but eager to see my babies!). Thanks for the great trip Scottie!
