Last week we set off for the coast with Dad and Janie. The kids were excited for the trip and especially looked forward to "camping" in the fifth wheel.
Goofball right from the start!
On our way to the coast we made a stop at Multnomah Falls.
We hiked to up to the bridge. It was a nice little walk after being in the truck all day.
I definitely have some goofy kids!
It is hard to get a picture of them but we kept trying.
Finally we got a pretty good one. We stayed a night in Portland and then drove over to the coast.
We arrived on Friday and the kites were already flying for the kite festival on Saturday.
They were beautiful and as it turned out there was not enough wind on Saturday so we were lucky to catch them on Friday!
The kids got some new beach toys and couldn't wait to try them out.
There was a lot of digging going on.
Then they headed for the water.
It was freezing but it didn't stop them from getting wet!
the kids bought new kites and Dad and Janie made sure they flew.
The kids loved the ocean!
Lucas buried his feet.
He loved to let go of his little boat and see where it floated.
Lexie found a shell.
Lucas and Papa Pete flying the kite.
Lexie wanted a turn too.
She loved it!
Digging in the sand.
They had a great day at the beach!
My two little devils with the devil kite.
After a fun day at the beach it was nice to chillax in the fifth wheel.
The next day we went back to the beach for the kite festival and it was a beautiful day so we came prepared with swimsuits.
The kids got right back in.
They were in the water all day long!
Lucas found some shells.
They were so fun to watch running in and out of the ocean.
Love these two!
They decided to build a sand castle but didn't get too far before the tide washed it away.
We took a break to watch the kite fliers.
They were really incredible!
Then it was right back into the ocean!
They wanted to make a big pile of sand but were too close to the tide.
They tried and tried but their pile kept washing away.
Chad, Lindsey and Addi joined us at the beach.
Finally they moved up the beach and got a big pile going.
They worked on it for a long, long time!
Little Lexie even tried to recruit other kids to help.
Bubble break.
They finally finished and decided it was a great volcano!
The next day we went to the aquarium.
Playing in the tide pools.
Watching the fish with Addi.
A rare moment of sibling love!
They thought the shark teeth were really cool!
A picture with Grandma.
Lexie got a new friend - Sealy.
This seal kept coming up and bumping the glass which the kids thought was hysterical!
Lucas on the turtle.
Lots of animals to pose on.
Lucas on another turtle.
Addi took a liking to Lucas and he was super sweet with her.
Thanks for a fun weekend Grandma and Papa Pete!
